Beginner Sampler Quilt Class
You will have the opportunity to learn basic quilting skills for creating six basic blocks that will form a lap size quilt 48"x57". The blocks will include the rail, 9 patch, pinwheel, friendship star, log cabin and 8-point star. You will complete the blocks in the first three classes. The final class will focus on adding borders, making binding and how to finish your quilt.

| Requirements: | Equipment Needed Sewing machine in good working order with manual Several wound bobbins 1/4 foot for your machine Sewing machine needles for machine 6-inch square is helpful, but not mandatory 9- or 12-inch square ruler 8x14 inch or 6x24 ruler for measuring and cutting Rotary cutter with 45 mm blade (be sure blade is new for clean cuts) Quilters' magic wand 18x13 cutting mat works well for class (store does have a couple of cutting stations, I will bring a couple of extra if you do not have one) Sewing thread for piecing to compliment your fabrics (I use aurifil beige, white, gray or black depending on fabric) Seam ripper Painters tape Pencil Pins/pincushion Scissors for snipping threads Fabric requirements I used a fat quarter bundle by Moda called Renew, from that bundle I took I have totaled the yardage for each color if you decide to stick to a basic palette. 4 lights (1?2 yard) 3 greens (1/2 yard) 3 pinks (1?2 yard) 3 yellow (1?2 yard) 2 taupe (1/4 yard) Borders One-inch inner border 1/3 yard Outer border 4 1/2 1 yard for pieced border using width of fabric or 1 1/2 if you use the length of fabric We will talk about the difference in class Binding 1?2 Yard Backing 3 1/3 yards (we will talk about backing in class, I would wait till after first class to purchase. |
